This is way too many occurrences of something that can be prevented by wearing the proper footwear. Being that are feet already take such a huge amount of abuse from our activities throughout the day, it is only a commonsense thing to understand that we need to where shoes or shoes that protect us while we are on our jobs.
If you belong to any of the construction trades or work in the field around any type of heavy equipment or heavy items, it even makes more sense for you to consider investing in some type of protective boot. Many of the workplaces in the United States that have these danger factors require you to wear protective footwear at all times. There are quite a few different shoes on the market that will also have steel plates on the underside of the soles so if you step on me or other sharp object it won’t puncture into your foot.
In the work force every individual is responsible for their own safety to a point, so if there are dangers in the area that you need to keep yourself educated as to what they are and how to keep yourself safe. One of the biggest causes of injury is from people not paying attention to proper safety procedures and taking shortcuts to save time or to make the task easier.
Whenever you’re working in a dangerous environment, it is imperative that you have all of your senses about you and be alert, as nobody wants to go home missing any toes or other body parts as a result of not paying attention. You need to be very considerate of people working with you and around you as well as their safety is just as fundamental as yours. It is also primary to make sure that you inspect your safety equipment every day before work so that you know it works properly and isn’t damaged. Don’t be one of the fatalities that happen because of your lack of attention. Work at a safe, comfortable pace and keep the area in which you work clean of debris and organized.
Protecting your feet with the proper protective footgear is essential if you want to be sure that you have a certain amount of protection in these type of environments. Although wearing safety footwear isn’t going to guarantee you 100% protection from a foot injury, it can definitely reduce the severity of the injury if it does happen. The fact is that for people who receive injuries to their foot on the job, three of them weren’t wearing any type of protective footwear. The reasons that people gave for not wearing safety footwear are excuses like the fact that the shoes were too uncomfortable, or they get really think that it would do a lot to help prevent a foot injury. Wearing men’s work boots is a lot less uncomfortable than having an injured foot in my opinion.
Manufacturers of protective footwear have come a long ways from the olden days of the ugly heavy boots of the past, and now construct shoes out of materials which are practically as lightweight as a tennis shoe. Irregardless though, keeping your feet safe from injury is very important and should not be something that is neglected.
